Here’s an opportunity for adults to learn the basics of the sport of rowing. Hiawatha Island Boat Club offers a 7 session program for men & women 16 and older who want to try a new skill while enjoying the beautiful Susquehanna River.

The cost of the course is $200. The fee will be collected at the first class, and refunded if, after the initial session, the student decides to withdraw. Attire for students is simple: sneakers or sandals, cotton socks, tee shirt and a long-sleeve shirt, and shorts. Attendees should be in good physical health, able to handle light to moderate exercise, and be able to swim.

Youth Rowing Camp

For Boys and Girls 13 – 18 years old.
Since 1998, Hiawatha Island Boat Club has conducted junior and adult rowing at the Les Wagner Rowing Center on the beautiful Susquehanna River. To introduce this enjoyable and challenging sport to the youth in our area, Hiawatha Island Boat Club will conduct a Rowing Camp daily from 8:30 - noon. The cost of the program is $130 for the 6 days, which includes a tee-shirt and snacks. Attire for campers is simple: sneakers or sandals, cotton socks, tee shirt and a long-sleeve shirt, and shorts. The fee will be collected at the first class, and refunded if, after the initial session, the camper decides to withdraw. The Camp will emphasize basic rowing technique, equipment familiarization, and water safety. Emphasis will be on sweep rowing (one oar), and all campers will also experience sculling (2 oars). The program will be conducted by experienced coaches from Hiawatha Island Boat Club, All rowing campers must be at least 13 years old, in good health for moderate to strenuous exercise, and be able to swim.
